Duration
6 weeks, every Monday 6pm – 9pm, with a rolling start throughout the year
Where is the course held?
Rush Green Campus
What qualifications do I need?
None at all, just a keen interest in the subject.
“Kelly is a great teacher” said Emma Story, pictured above. “I started this course as a hobby but I’m thinking about a career in food. This course has been both beneficial and enjoyable. It starts with the basics and gives you lots of tips too.”
What will I learn?
Were you inspired by “The Great British Bake Off” and would like to have the skills to create some wonderful cakes and pastries yourself?
If so this course is for you. It is designed for anyone who is interested in baking but who doesn’t have lots of experience.
You will learn all the professional techniques from scratch, under the guidance of our expert tutors who have worked in the bakery industry.
We will teach you how to create a range of cakes, sponges and pastry (sweet pastry) which you can take home to treat your friends and family.
All the ingredients and equipment are provided and included in the cost. The fee for this course is £180 (no concessions or refunds). We would also ask you for a £5 deposit for your bakery whites, which will be refunded at the end of the course.
How will I be taught?
This is a practical, hands-on course, which takes place in our industry-standard bakery. We will give you tried-and-tested recipes which you can take home with you.
How will I be assessed?
As this is a special interest course, there is no formal qualification or assessment. We will give you constructive feedback to help you progress.
What could I do next?
You could move on to our Level 2 Patrisserie and Confectionery course which will start in September 2012 (subject to interview).
