What qualifications do I need?
You need to be qualified to Level 3 within the specialist subject you wish to teach to others.
You should also have a good command of written and spoken English (Level 2) and you should be IT literate.
What will I learn?
Thinking of a career change? Want to find out whether teaching is for you? This course is the ideal stepping stone to a teaching career.
You will develop an understanding and practical skills that are needed within a learning environment, by focusing on the development of an integrated approach to the theory and practice of teaching:
- Reflecting on your own previous/current levels of experience, practice and skills
- Identifying principles of learning, teaching, assessment and evaluation
- Develop communication and interpersonal skills
- Develop an awareness of the professional roles and responsibilities
Successful completion of this qualification will enable you to progress on to other awards leading to Qualified Teacher Learning & Skills (QTLS).
This course is for those people who wish to work with adults
How will I be taught?
Discussion; group work; presentations; micro-teaching; reading & writing exercises; essays; and interactive learning.
You will be taught for 3 hours each week and you should expect to do a further 3 hours of study per week in your own time.
How will I be assessed?
Continuous assessment of written and practical tasks throughout the programme.
What could I do next?
Obtain employment in the Lifelong Learning Sector, and progress onto the Diploma to Teach in the Lifelong learning Sector (DTLLS).
