The first of our videos for local employers shows construction learners laying bricks in the Trowel Trades block at our Rush Green campus. Here, Mike Paxton, Head of Construction and the Built Environment at Barking & Dagenham College, talks about delivery of learning both at College and in the workplace, the scale of our involvement with employers and our mobile team of dedicated assessors:
We have worked closely with Sandwood Design & Build Ltd for almost 20 years. The company has successfully used both our traditional Apprenticeships route and Train To Gain in their long association with Barking & Dagenham College. In the video which follows, Sandwood’s Director - Gerry Lennon – outlines the many benefits to local employers of forging a close relationship with the College:
Apprentices Josh Williamson and Daniel Crawley learnt their trade here before we became Barking & Dagenham College. Here, Josh outlines his weekly timetable: four days working for Sandwood, with a morning’s theory and an afternoon’s practical learning at our leafy Rush Green campus. Daniel completed the first year of his Brickwork NVQ on his own, but a very positive period of work experience lead to an Apprenticeship – he had been working for Sandwood for two years when we made this video:
