Last Tuesday, Barking & Dagenham College students who wanted to start a career in banking, had the opportunity to participate in an industry talk with Metro Bank and also got to meet their recruitment team who assessed them in how to succeed in the application process.

Barking & Dagenham College students and staff travelled to the NEC in Birmingham to be part of The Skills Show 2013. With over 100,000 visitors, the event is the single biggest showcase for vocational training, skills and careers in the UK, and is filled with lots of exciting opportunities to see, do and hear about.

Sandra Coats, 57, from Romford has been awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queen's New Year Honours List in recognition of her outstanding contribution to Barking & Dagenham College where she works as a Catering Assistant. "Absolutely delighted, I am over the moon," said Sandra, "It is a great honour and I am very grateful to Barking & Dagenham College for nominating me. It is fantastic to know that my efforts have been recognised."
