    A budding entrepreneur who set up a business to simplify accounting for SMEs has been awarded a prize of £750 in the Edge Challenge – a national enterprise competition.

    Surya Srinivas Dinavahi (19), a student at Barking & Dagenham College, submitted his business proposal, including financial and marketing plans, alongside hopefuls from all over the country.

  3. Barking & Dagenham College now a Saracens Rugby Academy Partner

    Saracens first team player, Jackson Wray, helped launch the Barking & Dagenham College Rugby Academy recently, celebrating the College’s new status as a Saracens Academy partner. Barking & Dagenham College is the only London centre to partner with this world famous name in rugby union, giving students from across the region an opportunity to train with the team behind the 2014/15 Aviva Premiership champions.

  1. College wins national award for lighting the way to law professions

    A programme to give more students access to law courses has won Barking & Dagenham College a national award. The College received its award - an Association of Colleges' Beacon Award - sponsored by Gateway Qualifications, for ‘Widening participation in Learning’.

  2. Top students honoured

    Top students were awarded last night at a glittering ceremony hosted by special guest performer and comedian Kat B last night. Barking & Dagenham College’s annual Excellence Awards ceremony took place at a packed-out Broadway Theatre in Barking on Tuesday night. Kat B, the all-round entertainer, MTV presenter and former Choice FM DJ gave an amusing talk to the students who were then called on stage to receive their awards.

    A Romford student recently received national recognition from the Royal Society of Chemistry, at an awards ceremony in London.

    Yulanda Forte, 34, who completed an Access to Science course at Barking & Dagenham College in July 2015, is among 25 of the UK’s top-performing students on a dual scheme that grants the Access to Higher Education Science Diploma along with the Registered Scientist Technician Award (RSciTech).
