    Young people across the borough will be collecting their GCSE results this week (Thursday 21st August), and thinking about their futures. Whilst A-levels may seem like the obvious choice, a young trainee chef, who last year achieved 11 A grade GCSEs, and now works at Bird of Smithfield is asking students and parents to consider all options before making a decision.

  3. A*, A and Distinctions for Cornelia as she heads for university

    It’s a day of celebration in the Preda household this morning as mum of two and Barking & Dagenham College student, Cornelia Preda, added an A* in Maths and an A in English GCSE to her achievements. Cornelia studied for these essential GCSEs alongside an Access to Higher Education course in Science, where she achieved an abundance of Distinctions.

  1. 2 Golds for Adam in European Athletics 2014

    Adam Gemili, former Barking & Dagenham College student, has won the Gold in the men's 200m at the European Athletics Championships 2014 (Fri 15/8/14) in Zurich, followed by Gold in the 4 x 100m (Sunday 17/8/14).

  3. Platinum Accident Repair Centre Bath Appoints First Female AutoRaise Apprentice

    Platinum Accident Repair Centre, part the Platinum Group of dealerships, has announced that it has recruited 21 year old Emily Monk as an apprentice on the AutoRaise programme launched by Barking & Dagenham College. Emily is the first woman in the UK to join the scheme.

  1. Student volunteers deliver children’s charity centre face lift

    Over 300 volunteer hours have been donated by student plumbers, electricians, painters and decorators, plasterers and trainee construction site managers from Barking & Dagenham College as part of a project led by VINCI Facilities (part of the global giant VINCI Construction operation) to renovate a residential activity centre for underprivileged children.

    Sandra Coats, 57, from Romford has been awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queen's New Year Honours List in recognition of her outstanding contribution to Barking & Dagenham College where she works as a Catering Assistant. "Absolutely delighted, I am over the moon," said Sandra, "It is a great honour and I am very grateful to Barking & Dagenham College for nominating me. It is fantastic to know that my efforts have been recognised."
