Are you aged between 16 and 24?
Are you looking for an job or an Apprenticeship, but are not sure how to get started?
It can be difficult to get a foot in the door with an employer. You know that you need to improve your skills but how do you get that first opportunity?
A Traineeship could be just the answer.
Giving you real work experience
A Traineeship is a flexible training opportunity that gives you real work experience. It will help you get the skills that employers look for, and include English and maths (where required), as well as real work placements.
Part of the work preparation training covers areas like:
- confidence building
- CV writing
- interview preparation
- job search and
- inter-personal skills.
At the end of your Traineeship you have a number of options, including:
1. into a job
2. into an Apprenticeship
3. into a full-time course at a higher level
6 weeks to 6 months
A Traineeship can last from 6 weeks to a maximum of 6 months. Some of your time will be spent in college, the rest in the workplace. You may get opportunities to work in either one or many employers.
It is great experience on your CV, as well as a stepping stone to further education. At the end of it you get a reference or even a job interview if a position is available with the company.
Is a Traineeship right for you?
Traineeships are for young people who are:
- Unemployed and not in education
- Need a helping hand in gaining work experience
Not yet ready for an apprenticeship
A Traineeship is probably not right for you if you are:
- Over 24 years of age (unless Learning difficulty Assessment up to academic age 25)
- Already in a job.
