A BTEC can take you to Higher Education

Our industry specialists deliver a range of activities that will give you an understanding of 3D.

Our mission is to help you become employable and give you real working opportunities within live briefs, as well as give you the opportunities to develop your own business ideas. 

A 2 year BTEC Diploma at Level 3 is equivalent to 3 A levels so you can move on to higher education as many of our students do. Click here to read about one student who has won a scholarship to Brunel University in West London. 

You can go on to study for a Foundation Degree in 3D Design with us.

We currently have 3 courses available.

  1. Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Art and Design (1 year) Level 2
  2. Level 3 BTEC Diploma in 3D Design (2 Years) Level 3
  3. Foundation Degree (FdA) 3D Design UCAS Code W290 (2 Years) Level 5

 You will learn skills in:

  • IT, 2D and 3D industry-standard computer software
  • Design drawing both free hand and technical
  • Thinking creatively and outside the box
  • Inventing and creating products to sell
  • Developing your own business ideas
  • Working with real clients on live briefs
  •

You will have access to all the specialist product design software and equipment such as laser cutters. 

Aaron Kumar, secured three distinction grades in his BTEC Extended Diploma in 3D Design, and is now a scholarship student at Brunel University in Uxbridge studying for a degree in industrial design and technology. He is full of praise for his time at BDC saying:

"The tutors are so knowledgeable, easy to talk to and full of helpful advice."

Creative Tutor of the Year 2014 Finalist

Bella Parenti, Lecturer in 3D Design, was a finalist in this prestigious competition run by the National Skills Academy for Cultural and Creative Skills, of which the College is a member.

Achieving success for her students is what drives Bella. As a 3D design student you will work with employers on live briefs.

100% success

There is a 100% success rate on Bella's courses, with 49% of students achieving at least one Distrinction or Distinction*, and 29% of students achieved three Distinctions or higher.

    Student-designed Giant Polar Bears unveiled at London’s Southbank Centre

    A student’s prize-winning installation, depicting a pair of giant blue polar bears, has been unveiled as part of the Southbank Centre’s Festival of Love 2016. Displayed in a loving embrace, the Arctic Love, Just You and Me installation has been designed by Jonathan Enyim-Otebil, a student of 3D Design at Barking & Dagenham College.

    Former 3D Design student at Barking & Dagenham College, Ahmed Salah, has won the Sustainability Clean category in the 2016 Royal Society Student Design Awards with his Wudu Water Saver. Ahmed was presented with his £2,500 prize at a ceremony at the RSA’s HQ in central London in June.

    Student designs summer installation for London’s Southbank Centre

    Jonathan Enyim-Otebil, 3D design student at Barking & Dagenham College, has won the Southbank Centre’s Festival of Love 2016 Design Challenge with his idea of embracing polar bears. His designs will be transformed into a 9 metre installation which will be enjoyed by millions of visitors this summer. The Festival of Love runs from Saturday 9 July – Monday 29 August 2016.
