The Co-operative Food Store, Chingford
"I am very happy with the impact the training has had on our business," says General Manager, Jagdish.
The Chingford store is a medium sized convenience supermarket with 22 members of staff. In early 2010 the General Manager, Jagdish Khilosia, commissioned Barking & Dagenham College to provide training.
We delivered training in:
- Customer service
- Team leadership
- Time management
- General management
Jagdish arranged for 10 of his team to receive training at a variety of levels depending upon their role. Jagdish was pleased with the flexibility of service provided by the College:
“The tutors came to us, and that was great because going to the College wouldn’t have worked in our line of business – we are open from 7am to 10pm – so we needed a flexible training partner.
“I am very happy with the impact the training has had on our business. I am convinced that our customers are getting an even better service than before. Morale is very good and the team is happy.
“Behind the scenes I have seen a marked improvement in the team’s ability to delegate and they are generally more proactive and interested in the business.”
As well as his team, Jagdish has also benefitted from the training:
“I really enjoyed my course and I would like to keep going at the next level. I did a Chartered Management Institute Level 2 course in Team Leading. It has given me CMI membership, which is really useful, and it has made me want to develop my skills even further, so I will be looking at taking a course at Level 3.”
