College secures quality mark from the UK’s Higher Education watchdog

If you thought that studying locally for your degree or post-graduate qualification could mean compromising on quality of the student experience, it’s time to think again.

Barking & Dagenham College’s higher education programme has, once again, been fully endorsed by QAA (the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education), the UK’s higher education watchdog, following their review which was published on 27 August 2015.

QAA has responsibility for the quality and standards for higher education offered by all of the UK’s colleges and universities, and particularly praised our “comprehensive and integrated approached to supporting students” and our “high level engagement with students”.  Their report also highlighted how the College uses “innovative approaches” to help students prepare for work or to launch their career as entrepreneurs.

Cathy Walsh OBE, Principal and CEO, said

“We are delighted that the QAA review has endorsed our higher level skills training, which includes degree and post-graduate opportunities. As our Capital moves ever eastwards, it is vital that we continue to meet the needs of local people of all ages who want to study locally for the higher levels skills that allow them to compete successfully in London’s global job market.

"Many of our students combine their studies with a full-time job and a busy home life, so our expanding higher education programme offers a rich mix of subjects and levels, flexible study options, and outstanding student support that’s designed to help ensure that all students achieve their full potential.”
