Mechatronics engineering combines electrical, mechanical and computer engineering. There is a technical skills shortage and mechatronics engineers will increasingly be in demand as more industries seek to make advances to products, processes and services.

Our Engineering courses cover a range of engineering principles including electro-pneumatic and hydraulic systems, micro-processing, micro-controllers, mechatronics and advanced electronics.

You can choose from Level 1 courses right through to Higher National Diploma. So if you are planning your next move after GCSEs, or you are looking for more advanced study, talk to us today.

Lord Baker launches the Siemens Mechatronics Academy

Our Siemens Mechatronics Academy was formally launched by Lord Baker in February 2015, and he was full of praise for this new venture saying: "I am delighted that Siemens are supporting this Academy as they understand how important training is." Click here to read more about the launch

Learn from tutors who have trained in Berlin

At their Technik Akademie in Berlin, Siemens have developed their Mechatronics Certification Programme, with its specialized technical content providing a wide range of skills in systems troubleshooting and technical decision-making.

As an engineering student you will be taught elements from this Programme by a team of tutors who have trained in Berlin and on equipment specified by Siemens.

Offering you a unique opportunity

There is no other Further Education College in London or the South East able to offer this level of high quality, industry-linked training.

What is mechatronics?

Mechatronics systems form the basis of manufacturing processes in a huge range of sectors including automotive, chemical and pharmaceutical, food and medical products and processes.

It's a multidisciplinary field of engineering and a design process that includes a combination of:

  • mechanical engineering,
  • electrical engineering,
  • telecommunicatoins engineering,
  • control engineering and
  • computer engineering

In demand

There is a high demand for qualified and motivated people in the workforce with these skills.

Salary fact

£47,000 - £60,000 is the average national salary for qualified mechatronics engineers.

An Engineering Manager from a leading UK company added:

"I would certainly be keen to interview a candidate with this level of training on their CV. I need engineers who are multi-skilled and have the knowledge to be technically flexible.

"By offering Siemens’ certification alongside their main course, Barking & Dagenham College is giving their graduates an advantage when it comes to jobs."
