8th September 2020

Students from Barking & Dagenham College have been celebrating passing their maths and English GCSEs.

Gabija Celikovaite moved to London two years ago to start a level 3 BTEC in Art and Design. She needed to pass Maths and English GCSEs to fulfil her dream of going to university and she was able to do this alongside her Art and Design BTEC at the College. On securing the grades she needed to go to university, Gabija says: “I could not be happier with all the experiences I gained and outcomes I reached at the College. At the moment, I am preparing to continue my education at University of the Arts London (UAL) and I am beyond excited to see what the future will bring.”

Fadouia Chaguer was thrilled to achieve a grade 7 in English GCSE after starting to learn English at level 1. She says: “Many thanks to the College for making my dream come true and to my amazing teacher Elicia, who did a lot for us, starting from making us believe in ourselves first and foremost.”

With high grades in her English and Maths under her belt, Ilze Zelca has been accepted on a Teacher Training Course which starts in September with a placement at a Primary School. Ilze says: “It was the best feeling when I found out that my dreams had come true.

“I would like to thank my teachers Elicia Jonas and Bilal Bobat for their dedication, hard and tireless work in teaching us and to Barking & Dagenham College for providing such great teachers.”
