Eco students graduate

Students graduated from a 6 month vInspired volunteering programme on Friday night.

The 11 students, aged between 16 and 24, studied the course at Barking & Dagenham College and were involved in several community projects related to the environment including: maintaining Barking Park and Eastbrookend Park, litter picking, trimming bushes etc. and Valence House Museum, maintaining the grounds such as weeding and hovering up leaves.

vInspired Eco Talent is a full-time volunteering programme for young people living in London and interested in the environment. Young people can develop real work skills that can help them into employment or education.

The graduation event was held at The Swan, Shakespeare’s Globe on the Thames. Errol Parker, Head of School Sport, Science and Health Professions and their tutor Teressa Brantlova were with the students on their big day, Teressa said:

“It was an excellent celebration of all their hard work and achievements. Lots of parents came to support them; they were so proud. It was great to see.”
