A Barking & Dagenham College engineering student has shaved off all his hair to raise over £300 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Hassan Abdullah, 17, from Dagenham, was inspired to do something for the charity after meeting his girlfriend’s sister who has Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic condition affecting more than 10,000 people in the UK.
Hassan said: “Cystic Fibrosis is not a well-known condition. I wanted to make sure people became more aware of it. I decided that I could do that by helping to raise money for the Trust.”
With that in mind Hassan thought he needed to do something special - and the idea of shaving his hair off was formed!
The College’s hair salon seemed like the perfect place to help him with his challenge. So, today, hairdressing tutor Lorraine Robinson, shaved Hassan’s head.
Newly shaven, Hassan commented: “We’ve managed to raise lots of money and have fun. Other people were more nervous than me before I had my hair shaved. I enjoyed it!”
What’s more, Hassan really likes his new look! Hassan adds: “I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has sponsored me, I’m really grateful to them all.”
Although Hassan has already raised a fantastic amount of money, his Go Fund Me page is still open. If you would like to donate please go to https://www.gofundme.com/2857s5-shaving-my-hair-off
