Parents set new goals Monteagle school GOALS programme

Parents set new goals

17th December 2021

Parents from Monteagle School, Dagenham, took part in a unique programme designed to build self-esteem and understand the keys to success.

The course was implemented after school staff realised that the pandemic had really impacted parents as well as children. It was designed to specifically support parents as they move forward to find their new normal, post-Covid.

The free course gave parents the time they needed for themselves and supported them to learn how to develop the skills to get more of what you want from life and less of what you don’t!

The participants focused on aspects such as mind-set, motivation and the importance of improving self-esteem. They were also encouraged to visualise positive outcomes and take positive steps in planning their future.

It was a huge success, with all parents feeling they had gained so much from attending. The parents have now set up their own parent support group, called ‘Pluck’ (Parents making their own luck) and are encouraging other parents to join them.

We found the course unbelievably supportive. It has connected me to an amazing and inspiring group of parents and I can’t wait to see where we are in two years.

Bonnie Nelson, Parent

We were delighted to be able to offer parents this course. The pandemic has been hard for everyone and a lot of parents just need the space to be able to think about what they want to do next. This course gave them that space and we were delighted to work with Monteagle School to offer them it.
