Spookily realistic Halloween make-up

19th October 2016

Halloween came early to the Technical Skills Academy this week as one of their hair and beauty students created this fantastically realistic gorged eye effect.

18 year old Grace Nicholson from Dagenham is studying Theatrical Media Make-Up, and hopes to go onto university. She created this spookily realistic look using a variety of materials including:

  • two-part skin effects
  • bruise wheels
  • different stages of blood
  • wax·
  • and ‘colour correctors’

The intricate work took Grace a mere 30 minutes to complete on her model Andrea Lozano-Robles and she had to apply it step-by-step and build it up.

Lee Demmel, Curriculum Manager for Hair and Beauty explains: “Students who are studying Theatrical Media Make-Up at the Technical Skills Academy are taught the versatile techniques which Grace has used; they can then use them for a wide variety of different looks such as old age, third degree burns, imploding and exploding bullet holes and bruising.

“To find out more, you can visit the Academy at our open day on Wednesday 9th November. Please see our Facebook page for more info.”
