Students land City internships in the ?Cheese Grater?

14th November 2016

A group of 24 students from Barking & Dagenham College students were given a rare opportunity to compete for mentoring and paid work experience with City firm MS Amlin.

The MS Amlin Jumpstart Programme is unique in that it includes an insight day to the world of insurance risk, followed by the chance for students to apply for mentoring and a paid 6 week work experience placement in the summer.

Dilon Beqa, Career Ready Coordinator at the College said that it gave the students a great insight into the company and the world of work: “Directors from different departments shared information about what they do and our students and showed great interest. It was a fantastic opportunity to raise the learners' aspirations and fuel their desire to study business.”

Two of the College’s business students really impressed the directors and were offered prestigious internships.

17 year olds Reiss Fairey from Newham and Junior Abraham Agbeadjie Tower Hamlets were thrilled to be offered the opportunity. They will start their internships at MS Amlin’s iconic offices in the Leadenhall building (AKA The Cheese Grater) next summer.
