1st March 2016

Barking & Dagenham College students visited the Mayor last Friday for a thank you reception for designing and building the Borough?s float for the London?s New Year?s Day Parade.

The float represented the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham in the televised competition against all the other London boroughs. It came seventh in the competition and so the council was awarded £2500. Mayor, Councillor Simon J Bremner chose local charity Sycamore Trust UK to donate the winnings to.

40 students and staff were involved in the planning, design and production of the float; this included fashion, art & design, carpentry, painting & decorating and electrical students.

The Enchanted Forest float was also accompanied by a troupe of local dancers from The Elite Dance Academy.
