World?s Biggest Coffee Morning held at college

29th September 2015

On Friday 25th September students and staff at the Technical Skills Academy, Barking held their own coffee morning, joining thousands around the country to take part in the Macmillan World?s Biggest Coffee Morning.

They set up stall outside the Technical Skills Academy and lots of members of the public snapped up their tasty wares. The cakes all sold out within two hours, raising over £200 Macmillan Cancer Support.

They also combined it with a (Great British) ‘Bake Off’; having some fun and selling the cakes after the judging and awards have been made.

In the hotly contested ‘Bake Off’, the winners included Liggi Junnix: (hairdressing lecturer) for the best large cake; Rebecca Clements (administration apprentice) for the best small cake prize and Gill Mills (admin supervisor) won second prize in the large cake category. Rebecca and Gill were first time bakers and so were particular proud of their wins. All entrants received a certificate and students and staff joined in the competition. The winning cakes were then promptly sold…and presumably promptly eaten too!
