Saracens Rugby Academy Partners

Join Barking & Dagenham College's Rugby Academy, you will enjoy high-quality rugby coaching and a BTEC qualification. Our Rugby Academy launched in September 2015, and we are already making plans for the trials to select our students for the September 2016 intake.

Train and study to keep all your university options open

You will receive a minimum of 10 hours rugby per week including league, cup, and festival fixtures.

Alongside your rugby training, you will also study for a one-year BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Sport at Level 3, after which you will move on to the one-year BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport.

These qualifications will give you the option of moving on to a degree course at university if you wish, as they are equivalent to A Levels.

Thinking about applying?

You must be age 16 - 18 and, we are sorry, but at the moment the Academy is only open to male students. An interest in rugby is essential, but don't worry if you haven't had loads of experience playing the sport at school please come along to the trial.

You will need the relevant GCSEs to start the BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Sport and you will need at least 4 A* - C GCSEs including English and Maths.

Hear from our Head Rugby Coach

“Barking & Dagenham College now has a hat-trick of sports academies – rugby, football and basketball – giving talented students a clear line of sight to the top, with the added reassurance of a national recognised BTEC qualification.

"The Academy members will need to work as hard in the classroom as they do on the pitch.”
