A free breakfast for all students to get your day off to the best possible start, help buying books and equipment, or support and guidance in meeting the cost of tuition fees if you are age 19 and over, at Barking & Dagenham College we support you in every way we can.

Are you age 16 - 19?

You will not pay any tuition fee for your study programme. You may also be entitled to additional help:

  • A monthly allowance referred to as a Bursary Payment
  • Essential course-related books, equipment, uniform and DBS fees
  • Travel expenses to and from College
  • Support towards essential College trips
  • Free lunches

Are you aged 19 and over?
  • Advanced Learner Loan 
  • Essential course-relates books, equipment, uniform and DBS fees
  • Travel expenses, to and from College
  • Support towards essential College trips
  • Help with childcare
  • Discounted travel with the 18+ Student Oyster card
  • Course fee support for up to 50 per cent of your tuition fee 
  • Free College Meal (subject to a learning difficulty assessment or Education Healthcare Plan)

Emergency payments for Higher Education students 

As a Higher Education student studying at Level 4 or above (for example on an HNC, HND, Foundation Degree, BA (Hons) or post-graduate MBA) there is an emergency fund which may be able to assist you with one-off payments if you are experiencing issues with your loan through Student Finance England.

Please speak to our Student Financial Support Team in the first instance and they will advise you.
