BBC Breakfast visited Barking & Dagenham College last Friday to discuss the hot topic of GCSE resits.
Students have ended up sitting their GCSE exams as many as nine times as a result of the government’s compulsory resit policy, new figures released by education equality charity Impetus-PEF show.
BBC reporter John Maguire asked Danielle Watts, our Head of English and Maths 16-18 about how the College helps students with their English and maths and she also gave her thoughts on the Government’s GCSE resits policy.
The BBC report also showcased the sorts of vocational routes that can be taken at college: two painting and decorating apprentices, Jade Buckingham and Carrieanne Crosfield, were filmed in the college’s painting and decorating workshop and Head of Sport Errol Parker was filmed teaching sports students.
