Career Workshop: Students hear from Metro Bank
6 December 2013
Last Tuesday, Barking & Dagenham College students who wanted to start a career in banking, had the opportunity to participate in an industry talk with Metro Bank and also got to meet their recruitment team who assessed them in how to succeed in the application process.
The BDC Conference Suite was packed to the rafters recently with students who wanted to hear about a career in banking from one of the most entrepreneurial banks in the UK, Metro Bank. Lee Summers, Local Director of Metro Bank, explained the Bank’s approach to recruitment, saying:
“We recruit an attitude and train the skills.”
“Buddy” support for applications
Lee Summers, Local Director of Metro Bank, and his Team held breakout sessions for students to have one-to-one discussions to find out what it’s actually like to be employed by Metro Bank and the roles available.
Nana Kwadade, who is studying a BTEC Diploma in Business said:
“I think Metro bank is a good place to start my career, I’m interested in applying”.
Those students who apply for a job with Metro will get access to a “buddy” from the Bank who will support them through the application process, and students will have to chance to go behind the scenes at Metro Bank in the new year.
Matching you with the right employer
The Metro Bank Workshop is one of a series of Career & Interview Workshops that BDC runs for its students.
When you study with, you’ll get the chance to hear from employers about the career opportunities available to you.
