Graduates celebrate in style

Over 300 graduates watched by their proud friends, family, VIPs and members of staff, received their degrees on Saturday 30 November at the Colleges Higher Education Awards & Graduation Ceremony.
His Worshipfulness the Mayor of Barking and Dagenham, Councillor Hardial Singh Rai, gave the opening address before handing over to our Principal and CEO, Cathy Walsh, to lead the celebration of outstanding achievement of our students.
Symons Hatton Awards
The Symons Hatton Awards were also presented at the Ceremony, to those who are studying "lens based" subjects such as photography and media. This year these highly prestigious awards went to:
First Prize: Lewis Inman, FdA Photography Yr.2
Highly Commended Award: Daniele Pintore, BA (Hons) Photography Yr.3
Commended Award: Ben Prayel, Media student
Commended Award: George Woodley, Media student
A second prize for Daniele: Le Studio Rouchon European Scholarship Prize for Photography
For the first time this year, after announcing the affiliation between Barking & Dagenham College and the world famous Le Studio Rouchon back in July 2013, this prestigious prize went to Daniele Pintore, who will travel to Paris to take up a 2 month internship.
BDC student and talented singer, Jolaade Lawal, who is studying for a BTEC Level 3 in Music, sang ‘ When you Believe’, which summed up the mood of the day.
