North Essex NHS appoints Barking & Dagenham College
In January 2013 the North Essex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust chose Barking & Dagenham College (BDC) to deliver higher level apprenticeships.
A group of 26 members of staff are studying for a higher apprenticeship in Business and Administration at Level 4, with the London college team delivering the course for the Trust in two centres – Chelmsford and Colchester.
Julie Conner, Workforce Development Manager at the Trust, explains why they chose Barking & Dagenham College:
“Their professionalism and flexibility in designing the training programme around our needs meant that they stood out from other contenders.”
“This is a fantastic opportunity for non-professionally qualified staff to gain a higher qualification of degree level standard”, Julie went on to explain.
In addition, a second group of 18 candidates is studying for higher level apprenticeships in Human Resource Management at Level 5. This apprenticeship programme is linked with the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) and is in response to Barking & Dagenham College's proactive approach to develop a higher level, on the job, management qualification , in partnership with the Institute.
Barking & Dagenham College remains one of only two colleges in London to deliver this higher level, skill shortage apprenticeship.
