This varied course helps develop a sound base for becoming a confident all-round performer.

As well as going on trips and external workshops, you'll have the opportunity to perform on the main stage at Barking's Broadway Theatre!

You will study a range of units to develop your performance skills. Such as:

  • Principles of Acting
  • Developing movement skills
  • Physical Theatre
  • Developing Voice Skills
  • Drama improvisation
  • Classical Theatre

All performing Arts students study a broad range of skills to support development, Acting Specialists may

Assessments are done in a variety of ways which include: Practical rehearsals and Performances, written documents and presentations

4 GCSE’ A*- C or 4 or above

MUST Include English

If you do not have a drama GCSE A keen interest in Drama or performance and any extra curricula activities will support application.

You will also be asked to attend a taster session.

You'll explore play texts and perform from them, developing different approaches to acting through working with a range of practitioners.

You will have the opportunity to work with industry professionals both on site and at other venues.

There will a series of workshops & Performance at The Barbican as part of your work experience.

On successful completion of the course you will be able to go onto Extended Diploma in Performing Arts.

Where it can lead to

There are number of routes you can take following successful completion of a course. Further study can include Higher Education courses or a Higher Apprenticeship where you will expand your skills through study whilst earning a wage. Or you may choose to move directly into employment.
