Our HNC in Computing is the equivalent to the first year of a BSc degree.

You'll learn the specialisms listed below, so that you're ready to progress to the HND in Computing.

You'll learn about a broad range of subjects including:

  • Programming
  • Networking
  • Professional practice
  • Database design & development
  • Security
  • Managing a successful computing project
  • Computer systems architecture
  • Website design & development

You'll be assessed throughout the course by different means, including:

  • Written work
  • Podcasts
  • Videos
  • Discussions about jobs

During the course you could be working towards a Huawei certification, attending industry events, or heading to China on an organised trip!

You'll need to have successfully completed a Level 3 Extended Diploma or the Access to Computing course.

Where it can lead to

There are number of routes you can take following successful completion of a course. Further study can include Higher Education courses or a Higher Apprenticeship where you will expand your skills through study whilst earning a wage. Or you may choose to move directly into employment.
