Do you want to work in CGI, animated films, the computer games industry, or digital post-production?

Then this 2-year programme is just the platform you need to start your journey! The course is based at Barking & Dagenham College, but run in partnership with the University of East London (UEL).

Download the Foundation Degree (FdA) in Animation programme specification.

You'll build on traditional creative skills such as drawing, character design and concept creation. But in getting familiar with Flash, Photoshop, Final Cut, Premiere, After Effects and Maya, you'll have the opportunity to specialise in 2D animation, 3D modelling & animation, stop-motion, games design, digital compositing and SFX!

Ongoing assessment and feedback throughout the course - final grading based on coursework. Outputs might include film production, presentations, essays and written reports, portfolios, journals and observations.

A creative portfolio may be all we need to see. We welcome applications from adults who have gained experience outside of their day-to-day work. For school leavers we need 160 UCAS points (equivalent to two C-grade A-Levels, or MPP on a BTEC National Diploma). As long as you can show your creativity, the subjects you've studied before now won't matter too much.

You'll get opportunities to develop independent work and to respond to live client briefs.

Successful completion of this course results in the award of a Foundation Degree (FdA) in Animation by the University of East London. From there you might be able to progress directly to the 3rd year of the BA (Hons) in Animation course - or your qualification will open up a range of degree-level options. Work produced during this course will also provide the basis of a portfolio for getting work in the industry.
