Beauty Therapy

This course provides an introduction to the beauty industry and an understanding of how to become a professional therapist.

You'll leave with the skills and confidence to perform basic treatments.

Continue your learning at Levels 2 & 3 to develop skills across a wide range of beauty therapy treatments!

You'll learn basic beauty therapy treatments and the skills to assist Beauty Therapists in salons and spas.

Study units for this course will be selected from the following:

  • Health & Safety in the Salon
  • Introduction to the Hair & Beauty Sector
  • Basic Manicure Treatment
  • Basic Pedicure Treatment
  • Salon Reception Duties
  • Skin Care
  • The Art of Photographic Make-Up
  • Themed Face Painting
  • Working with Others in the Hair and Beauty Sector
  • Basic Make-Up Application
  • Create a Hair & Beauty Image
  • Nail Art Application
  • Presenting a Professional Image in the Salon

You'll need to complete both written assignments and practical observations, as well as online exams.

Students will also build a portfolio of evidence throughout the course.

Time on campus will involve learning in our fully equipped beauty classrooms and commercial salons, using all the latest beauty equipment.

You will need to have GCSE Maths, English Language and two additional subjects at grade 2 (E) or above.

As part of the application process you will also be asked to explain why you want to study this course, so that we can ensure any course offer made aligns to your career goals.

Or you'll need to have successfully completed the L1/E3 course.

The tutors on this course have outstanding knowledge and experience from working in the hair & beauty industry, as well as valuable industry links to help you gain an insight into the industry.

There are many opportunities for you to work in realistic industry environments, thanks to our commercial salons.

Complete this course and move on to further study on the Level 2 Diploma - Beauty Therapy.

If you want to head into employment, it's likely you'll initially be assisting beauty therapists.

There are number of routes you can take following successful completion of a course. Further study can include Higher Education courses or a Higher Apprenticeship where you will expand your skills through study whilst earning a wage. Or you may choose to move directly into employment.
