The 4 study modules are:

  • Experimental Approaches to Animation OR Experimental Approaches to Games Design
  • New Horizons in Animation
  • Research Project and Dissertation

You'll also get the opportunity to specialise or use a range of skills in developing your final major project.

You'll be assessed across each of the 4 key study modules on practical projects and written reports. These assessments will contribute towards your overall grade. There are no formal exams.

You'll need to have an FdA in Animation, or equivalent. Whether you've studied elsewhere or you've done the BDC foundation course, you'll need to apply through UCAS and attend an interview. External candidates will also need to present a portfolio of relevant work.

Successfully completing the course gives you the award of a BA (Hons) in Animation from the University of East London. From there you can choose to continue into postgraduate study at another institution - or head into the world of work. You'll be qualified for employment in areas such as animated film, CGI, SFX, digital post-production, computer game design, moving image art, motion graphics - or advertising and marketing within related industries!

Where it can lead to

There are number of routes you can take following successful completion of a course. Further study can include Higher Education courses or a Higher Apprenticeship where you will expand your skills through study whilst earning a wage. Or you may choose to move directly into employment.
