Follows on from the subsidiary course and gives a qualification equivalent to 3 A-Levels.

Covers key elements of art and animation for game design. Ideal for leading onto further studies at BDC and other colleges - and for joining our successful past students working in the industry!

Subjects covered include concept art, game design, image manipulation, 2D & 3D modelling and animation, pre-production and motion graphics.

Completion of the subsidiary course or equivalent

Course leader Katie Morgan lectures on 2D Animation, Pre-Production and Motion Graphics. She has 2D Digital Animation and Graphics & Multimedia qualifications, and her software skills include Adobe Animate, Photoshop, After Effects and Premiere Pro. She is supported by Lhinton Davidson, Rob Buck and Richie Mobwete, who have qualifications in Art History, Fine Art and Animation, expertise in Digital Art, Image Manipulation and 3D Modelling, and software specialisms covering Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Autodesk Maya and After Effects.

If you want to specialise in animation, BDC runs an Animation foundation degree (FdA) course, which leads to the BA (Hons) in Animation degree. Both are run in conjunction with the University of East London.

Where it can lead to

There are number of routes you can take following successful completion of a course. Further study can include Higher Education courses or a Higher Apprenticeship where you will expand your skills through study whilst earning a wage. Or you may choose to move directly into employment.
