This course follows on directly from the Subsidiary year and prepares you for employment or for further study in Higher Education.

Following on from the units you'll have taken during the Subsidiary year, you'll study:

  • Micro-Controller Systems for Engineers
  • Calculus to Solve Engineering Problems

You'll also focus on a specialist engineering project, and select five further units.

As well as written essays and practical assessments, there are three external exams as part of this course.

To study on this course you'll need to have completed the Subsidiary year, or equivalent.

You'll also need GCSEs in Maths & English.

An interview will be arranged to discuss your qualifications.

You'll be completing at least 30 hours of work experience as part of this course.

There's even the chance to work abroad via the Erasmus+ programme!

If you're looking to continue your studies after this course, you can move on to HNC or degree-level engineering qualifications.

Alternatively, you can look for employment or an apprenticeship.
