Dance is a diverse and exciting career option, and this course is based at the inspiring Broadway Theatre in Barking.

Work collaboratively with fellow students and choreograph your own pieces!

You will study a range of units to develop your performance skills. Such as:

  • Developing Classical Ballet Technique
  • Developing Movement Skills
  • Applying Physical Theatre
  • Devising
  • Historical Context of Performance
  • Performing Arts Business
  • Classical Theatre
  • Developing Voice Skills

All performing Arts students study a broad range of skills to support development, Dance Specialists may chose particular Dance units

Assessments are done in a variety of ways which include: Practical rehearsals and Performances, written documents and presentations

You'll be based at The Broadway Theatre, with access to the stage for both rehearsal and performances. But there are opportunities to work with fellow students or on your own pieces at other venues, too.

4 GCSE’ A*- C or 4 or above

MUST Include English

If you do not have a Dance GCSE A keen interest in Dance or performance and any extra curricular activities will support application.

You will also be asked to attend a taster session.

Successfully completing the course will set you up for further study (at university or specialist school) - or for starting your career in the industry.

Where it can lead to

There are number of routes you can take following successful completion of a course. Further study can include Higher Education courses or a Higher Apprenticeship where you will expand your skills through study whilst earning a wage. Or you may choose to move directly into employment.
