This course offer a starting point for students and builds confidence and skills related to Performing Arts and other general abilities such as:

  • Working with others
  • Preparing a progression plan
  • Being organised

Alongside more specialised units such as:

  • Performing a dance routine
  • Performing a piece of music
  • Rehearsing for a performance
  • Acting in a performance

Assessments are done in a variety of ways which include: Practical rehearsals and Performances, written documents and presentations.

English & Maths skills above Entry Level 2 will be required and there are written assignments.

A keen interest in Performing Arts and some experience in related extra-curricular activities are very useful.

You can benefit from work experience as part of the Front of House Team at The Broadway Theatre.

On successful completion of the course you can progress on to a level 2 course to further develop your skills and knowledge of the performing arts.

Where it can lead to

There are number of routes you can take following successful completion of a course. Further study can include Higher Education courses or a Higher Apprenticeship where you will expand your skills through study whilst earning a wage. Or you may choose to move directly into employment.
