Engineering

An apprenticeship created for those who produce complex, high-value/low-volume components or assemblies to required specifications in their work.

The programme will improve your skills in interpreting and following specifications drawings, planning work activity, quality checking and resolving problems, and producing, repairing and assembling components.

During the programme you'll spend a minimum of 20% of your time learning at college. Assessment will be split across your project work, a multiple-choice test and a professional discussion supported by a portfolio.

You'll need GCSEs in Maths & English at grade 4(C) or above to join the programme.

If you don't have these qualifications you'll need to study Functional Skills at Level 2 as part of your apprenticeship.

When you've completed your apprenticeship you could choose to do further training while you work. This will help your development towards becoming an Engineering Technician or Site Supervisor.

Relevant programmes include:

  • Level 3 (NVQ) Diploma in Engineering Maintenance
  • Level 3 Diploma in Installing Engineering Construction Plant and Systems - Mechanical Fitting
  • Level 3 Combined Diploma in Process Engineering Maintenance
