This programme's designed to develop your skills in working backstage in a theatre.

Whether you choose the Lighting, Sound or Stage pathway, your training takes place in a working theatre as you learn on the job.

One day a week will be spent at college to complete coursework and get guidance on developing your portfolio.

Assessment is via tutor observation in the workplace, witness statements, reports and coursework (a combination of written work, photographs and video).

To join this programme you'll need to have 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above. These should include English & Maths.

Alternatively you can join the apprenticeship if you've previously worked on a Level 2 programme.

The apprenticeship will provide you with the experience and qualifications to begin a career in technical theatre.

You can go on to do further training in the industry, or look for work related to your chosen pathway.

For employers

Employers get help from the government to pay for apprenticeship training. See what training incentives are available for Levy and non-Levy employers.
