An ideal programme for developing healthcare support skills, whether you're already working in the sector or you want to pursue a career within it.
Apprentices will learn how to effectively monitor and manage an individual's overall care plan and develop the confidence to challenge it when concerned. They'll also recognise the importance of consistently working to best practice standards and delivering high-quality compassionate care.
Your college-based learning will involve units in:
- Health Intervention
- Person-Centred Care & Support
- Dementia, Cognitive Issues & Mental Health
- Basic Life Support
- Infection Prevention & Control
- Equality & Diversity
Roles suitable for this apprenticeship include Healthcase Assistant, Healthcare Support Worker, Nursing Assistant and Nursing Auxiliary.
You'll commonly need English & Maths GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above to join the programme. Some employers may accept achievement at Level 1 in these subjects.
Specific requirements are up to individual employers.
If you don't have Level 2 or GCSEs in English & Maths you'll need to study Functional Skills in these subjects alongside your apprenticeship.
Complete this course and you could move onto an advanced apprenticeship such as the Senior Healthcare Support Worker at Level 3.
You might be able to secure a full-time job with your apprenticeship employer, or you could use your experience and qualification to find work elsewhere.
