Senior Healthcare Workers carry out a range of clinical and non-clinical healthcare or therapeutic tasks under direct or indirect supervision from a registered practitioner.
There are pathway options on this programme:
- Adult nursing support
- Maternity support
- Theatre support
- Mental health support
- Children & young people support
- Allied health profession - therapy support
You'll be trained on the job and in college, and you'll record your development in a learning journal.
Your assessment will be via:
- Ongoing visits
- Short-answer and multiple-choice tests
- Practical observation
- Review of learning journal
You'll need prior experience of working as a support worker within healthcare to join this programme.
If you haven't achieved Level 2 in English & Maths, you'll also need to study Functional Skills in these subjects alongside your apprenticeship.
Following the completion of your apprenticeship you may wish to work towards becoming an Assistant Practitioner or Nursing Associate.
You could also look to study at degree level with the aim of becoming a registered healthcare practitioner.
