At Barking & Dagenham College we provide our students with real work opportunities, building their confidence and skillset to enter the Art and Design industry or progress onto our higher level FE programmes.

On this course you will have opportunities to undertake real 'live' project briefs within all specialist areas of Art and Design which include Fine Art, Graphics, 3D, illustration, Printmaking, Photography and many more.

We provide work experience placements for internal and external clients, providing you with experience of working in the creative industry.

You will undertake a range of assignments that will introduce you to a variety of Art and Design Specialisms. You will also gain valuable visual language skills through a series of Contextual Studies where you will learn about the work of other Artists and Designers from the creative industries.

Written, practical assessments and coursework.

This is a practical hands-on course, where your projects will be assessed over the year. There are no formal examinations on this course.

You will need to have GCSE Maths, English Language and two additional subjects at grade 3 (D) or above.

As part of the application process you will also be asked to explain why you want to study this course, so that we can ensure any course offer made aligns to your career goals.

Work experience is designed into the programme and all students have the opportunity to work on team and collaborative projects both within the college and with external employers.

Successful completion will lead to a Level 3 Creative Arts course.

There are number of routes you can take following successful completion of a course. Further study can include Higher Education courses or a Higher Apprenticeship where you will expand your skills through study whilst earning a wage. Or you may choose to move directly into employment.
