A taste of volunteering

19th March 2018

Barking & Dagenham College is inviting local 16-25 year olds to become ?vInspired? next week.

vInspired is the UK's leading volunteering programme, enabling young people to make social impacts in their area.

The charity helps young people to make their mark on causes that they care about, whilst learning new skills and talents along the way. They recognise that volunteering can help young people thrive, and transform the communities they live in.

The college runs a 6 month vInspired course for local 16-25 year olds which focuses on the environment and how young people can make positive change in their local surroundings.

Participants learn vital skills, like teamwork and problem-solving, helping to prepare them for their future. They also get to make a positive contribution to the local community by carrying our voluntary work; previous projects have involved things such as clearing undergrowth and litter near the borough’s ponds and canals.

The College is running two free taster days including team building activities on Tuesday 27th March, 1pm-4pm and Monday 16th April 10am-1pm.

To book a free place on one of the taster sessions, email course coordinator Teressa Brantlova on teressa.brantlova@bdc.ac.uk.
