College commended as a champion of creative skills

8th April 2019

We have been recognised as a champion of skills and training in the creative industries at the Creatvie & Cultural Skills award ceremony last week.

Over 200 guests gathered at the Welsh National Museum in Cardiff to celebrate the people and organisations that are working to develop a strong and skilled cultural sector.

The featured nominees from across the UK, specialised in dance, theatre, heritage, music, community arts and more. This year’s awards drew the highest number of nominations in the history of the event.

Simon Dancey, CEO of Creative & Cultural Skills said: “The calibre of nominees we had in this year’s awards was truly exceptional. As a sector we’re not very good at celebrating the work we do, particularly the work which goes on behind the scenes.

“These awards are designed as a chance for us to take time out of our usual day-to-day activities and reflect on our successes.”

Our Creative Industries Team was highly commended in the category of Training Provider of the Year Award.

Katie Morgan, Creative & Cultural Skills Project Leader & Creative Course Leader pictured alongside Paul Schofield, our Head of Creative & Cultural Industries, said: “I’m really proud of the whole Creative & Cultural Industries team who work so hard to give our students excellent training and good work experience opportunities.”
