Student success at Inclusive Skills Competition heats

17th June 2016

Five students from Barking & Dagenham College have enjoyed great success at the recent Inclusive Skills Competition, securing a first, a second place and a joint third. The students showcased their skills in IT and catering.

Five students entered the competition, which was designed specifically for people with a Learning Difficulty or Disability (LDD).

The team of competitors:

Tamara Fowler, 1st place Catering
Gemma Floyd
Ishmael Chemwayi-Pfidze, Joint 3rd place IT
Jasmine Bhatt, Joint 3rd place IT
Jac Lewis Aiano, 2nd place IT

Tamara will head to the NEC in Birmingham to take part in the finals at The Skills Show in November.

Jac, Ishmael and Jasmine will have to wait a little longer until all the regional heats have taken place to find out if they have scored enough points for a place in the finals.

Lis Honeysett, Curriculum Team Leader for LDD added,

"What a wonderful experience it has been for our students and we are all delighted at the results. It has been a massive boost to the students' confidence. They are all winners."
