Acting student to appear in ‘Frantic’ production

An acting student from Barking & Dagenham College is one of just 12 to be chosen out of 550 young men to perform in a new production.

Frantic Assembly Company’s Ignition project involved the theatre company travelling to 10 cities across the UK, delivering workshops in boxing gyms, garages, theatres, youth clubs, schools and colleges.

After working with over 550 young men across 6 weeks, they formed a company of 12 who will be travelling down to London next week. They will work with Artistic Director Scott Graham for 5 days to produce an original piece of theatre.

James Pele, 18 from Canning Town is in his second year of a Diploma in Acting at the College, whose famous alumni includes Idris Elba.

Tania Edwards, Curriculum Team Leader of the Performing Arts Department which is based at The Broadway Theatre, Barking, said:

It’s brilliant news! Frantic Assembly is a nationally acclaimed company for their physical theatre work and this is an amazing opportunity. The boys will be rehearsing over half term and performing at Stratford Circus on 24th and 25th October and the Imperial War Museum on 26th October.

Tickets for these performances are now on sale (tickets are free for the abridged version at the Imperial War museum): https://franticassembly.co.uk/productions/ignition-2018
